A Gainesville woman was arrested Wednesday night after she beat a teenaged boy with a belt, according to a report.

The Gainesville Police Department said Paris Franshia Gillins, 20, struck a 14-year-old boy who lives with her three times with a belt at about 9 p.m.

Gillins got angry with the teen when he wouldn’t go to his bedroom following an argument about chores, according to the report. She grabbed him and hit him on the thigh of his right leg with a belt.

When tried to block the attack, he was struck in the lip by the belt buckle, the report states.

Gillins was arrested on a felony charge of child abuse. She was being held at the Alachua County Jail on $10,000 bond.
