The Florida women’s basketball team will compete in the postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament after earning an at-large berth into the 64-team field Monday evening.
The Gators (18-14) play Florida International (19-12) in the first round on Thursday in Miami, with the start time and ticket information to be announced today.
Monday’s announcement placed Florida in a postseason tournament for the 19th time in the last 21 years, including all six seasons under coach Amanda Butler, who became the first-ever Gator coach to guide the program to a postseason appearance in each of their first four years.
Florida, which will be making its 20th postseason appearance in program history, will be appearing in the WNIT for the seventh time since the event’s inception in 1998, competing in 2000, 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2011.
