Authorities on Thursday continued their search of the Suwannee River without success for two men missing since Monday, when they disappeared while trying to help one of the men's son out of the river.
Gilchrist County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Manning said Thursday morning that search crews in boats were on the river again to try to find Al Melendez, 39, and Haemant Nathooram, 19, both of Gilchrist County.
Various agencies have been searching in boats and in the air for signs of the men. Manning said the entire length of the river from Log Landing to the Gulf of Mexico has been searched by air.
The men ended up in the river while trying to save Melendez's 8-year-old son after he fell in while playing with a remote-controlled boat.
Two other people at Log Landing saved the child, but Melendez and Nathooram disappeared.
Family said Melendez was a strong swimmer and was trying to save Nathooram, who could not swim.
