Gas prices continue sliding into spring

Gas prices continue to drop and are below the levels from this time last year, a marked change from 2012 when prices steadily climbed until they peaked in April, according to AAA, the Auto Club.

"Gas prices are expected to decrease further in the short-term and will likely stay below year-ago levels,'' Jessica Brady, AAA spokeswoman, said Monday in a news release.
“However, motorists are not in the clear yet. Pump prices may inch back up in April, before peaking as initially forecast," she said.
The national average price of regular unleaded gasoline is $3.70, 5 cents less than last week. Florida's average of $3.77 dropped 5 cents, and Georgia's average of $3.64 fell 7 cents from last week.
Prices in Gainesville were on average 6 cents lower than this time last week, according to the website GasBuddy.com. The prices ranged from a high of $3.99 to a low of $3.71, with an average of $3.84.
A barrel of oil closed Friday at $91.95 on the New York Mercantile Exchange — $1.27 more than the week prior.
