ST. PETERSBURG — An internal investigation is underway after St. Petersburg police shot a man while serving a search warrant.

A police statement says that when uniformed officers and undercover detectives arrived at the home Friday night, several people in the carport began running in different directions and a car drove directly into the officers.

Officers fired at the car, which kept going until stopping at an alley nearby.

Danardrick Chance had been shot in the leg. Charges are pending as the 19-year-old recovers in the hospital. A second person has been charged with obstruction. Investigators are still looking for two other passengers. No other injuries were reported.

Two people at the home were also arrested and charged with marijuana possession with intent to sell.
