Lake City woman shot, seriously wounded

A Lake City woman was hospitalized in serious condition after being shot early Saturday morning and police were still searching Saturday night for the person who shot her.
Misty Dawn Harper, 32, was shot while walking on Marion Avenue at about 5:43 a.m. and is in serious condition in an unspecified Gainesville hospital, LCPD spokesman Steve Shaw reported in a press release.
Columbia County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Bailey was in the area of North Marion Avenue and State Road 100A when he heard a gunshot and discovered Harper laying in the southbound traffic lane of North Marion Avenue, Shaw reported.
Harper was taken to Gainesville by ambulance, Shaw added.
The case is under investigation by LCPD with assistance from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
LCPD investigators are asking that anyone that can provide information about Harper or the incident call police at 386-752-4344 or call anonymously on the TIP line at 386-719-2068.
