Allegations of more than 2,000 sexually oriented texts with a Canadian youngster led to the arrest Thursday of a Lake City man, police Sgt. Steve Shaw reported in a news release Friday afternoon.
Aaron Charles Bader, 22, of 1447 NW Wayne Place, Apt. 105, was charged Thursday with transmission of obscene or harmful material to minors.
The case began on Feb. 27 when the 11-year-old's mother told police in Ontario that her child was receiving sexually explicit text messages from someone named Aaron, Shaw reported.
An officer with the Peel Regional Police Service in Canada learned that the child met the man through an online video game. From Feb. 3-11, more than 2,000 texts were exchanged. Some of the texts included photos, Shaw said.
Peel police were able to trace the texts to Bader and contacted the Lake City Police Department for assistance.
LCPD investigator David Greear verified the identity of Bader and found him at his job. Shaw said Bader confessed to sending the texts and knowing the age of the youngster.
