Motorists using State Road 20 between Gainesville and Hawthorne are being asked to use caution when traveling the areas of Hawthorne Road and County Road 2082 south of Newnan's Lake due to smoke/fog visibility issues.

A 25-acre controlled burn on Friday that is no longer burning is still creating potentially dangerous visibility issues overnight, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Smoke warning signs are posted in the area, but motorists that visibility may deteriorate quickly during nighttime and early-morning hours, FHP said Friday night.

Motorists are being asked to reduce their speed and utilize low-beam headlights in order to adapt to potentially changing weather conditions.
