HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Police in Hallandale Beach announced a $51,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to the arrest orf a suspect in the deaths of a Canadian couple found slain in January.
Authorities also released a few new details about the deaths of David Pichosky, 71, and Rochelle Wise, 65, whose bodies were discovered inside their Hallandale Beach condominium on January 10. Police said they were asphyxiated.
Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy told the Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/10fnLGN ) that investigators believe more than one person was involved. Flournoy says he's hopeful a "less culpable" person will step forward in exchange for a lesser sentence.
Pichosky and Wise were from Toronto, but spent winters in South Florida. A neighbor became concerned on Jan. 10 after they failed to show up for a lunch date.
The couple was last heard from on Jan. 9. Last month police released surveillance video that shows a woman leaving the back door of the condo on Jan. 10. They are still trying to identify the woman.
Hallandale Police Chief Dwayne Flournoy said the department will release video showing Wise during a shopping trip to a nearby Wal-Mart store on the night of Jan. 8.
Wise's son, James, and her best friend, Pearl Glabam, attended the press conference on Wednesday and pleaded with anyone to come forward with information.
The Herald reported that Wise was the founding director of the Crestwood Valley Day Camp near Toronto and retired in 2005. Pichosky was a retired accountant.
The couple married about four years ago. Residents in the Venetian Park neighborhood said the couple was very religious and could be seen walking to temple every Friday night.
The case is being investigated by the Broward Sheriff's Office and the Hallandale Beach Police Department.
