A Live Oak man died following a Monday evening crash in Suwannee County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Anthony J. Crump, 53, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida by helicopter, where he later died, FHP reported in a news release.

The accident occurred at 6:25 p.m. Monday on U.S. 129 just south of 102nd Trace.

Crump was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 south on U.S. 129 behind Rosalynn M. Griffith, 29, of Gainesville, in a 2001 Dodge Neon.

FHP stated that Crump came up behind the slower-driving Griffith and struck the Neon from behind despite taking evasive action to avoid a collision. His Ram continued moving off the road and struck a tree.

Griffith was not injured in the accident.

Charges are pending.
