A Gainesville man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the robbery at knifepoint of a convenience store on Feb. 21.

David Michael Sheppard, 31, of 3945 NW 27th Lane, was charged with armed robbery for the holdup at the Kangaroo convenience store at 4221 NW 16th Blvd., according to a Gainesville police arrest report.

Surveillance video shows the culprit got a 12-pack of beer and took it to the counter. He pulled out a knife and demanded the clerk give him money. He took the cash and left the store with the money and the beer.

The arrest report states that Sheppard’s mother was shown surveillance photos and told police the robber was her son, adding that she recognized his shirt as one that she bought for him.

Also interviewed was Sheppard’s roommate, who told police that she drove him to the Kangaroo for beer and that he returned to the car with it.
