If you are considering transitioning to natural hair styling, then Angela Williams of Bold and Beautiful Full Service Hair Salon is someone who can answer your questions and help you figure out if natural hair will fit your lifestyle.
Williams and her husband, Carl Williams, are the owners of Bold and Beautiful and stylist Michelle Baskin has been part of the Bold and Beautiful family since it opened in 1996 at 1318 E. University Avenue. In 2005, the salon moved to its present location at 916 SE Williston Road.
"Natural hair (styling) is new for the shop," said Angela Williams, whose hair also is natural. Services offered at Bold and Beautiful also include barbering, Care Free curls, relaxers, hair coloring, shampoo and sets, double strand twists, weaves, extensions and braids.
"I'm a big fan of natural hair," said Angela Williams. "It has made a big difference in my life."
Angela Williams attended Powell Beauty School, received her cosmetology license in 1993, and started her career at Susie's Beauty Salon, formerly at 1208 E. University Ave. She also holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from St. Leo University and she worked at Tacachale from 2008-2012 while continuing to provide hairstyling services by appointment.
After a 4 1/2-year hiatus, Angela Williams returned full time to Bold and Beautiful this year.
"I feel reignited in my profession because I want to specialize in natural hair," said Angela Williams, adding that the benefits of natural hair are many and include no damaging chemicals, cutting down on styling time, being more economical, receiving no damage of the style from rain and being a self-esteem booster.
"Natural hair enhances your natural beauty," Angela Williams said. "You're already beautiful and natural hair is just going to enhance it."
Angela Williams received high praise from her customers.
Sue DeBose has been going to Angela Williams for at least 10 years. She said Angela is very accommodating and the atmosphere at the salon is very good and feels homey.
"I like the attention I receive," DeBose said. "She doesn't stack her appointments and when you get there, she's ready for you,"
Tamara Davis said Angela Williams has been styling her 10-year-old daughter's hair for six years. She credits Angela Williams with helping her daughter, Tamaris Davis, understand the concept of becoming a young lady and understanding beauty through hair.
"She has changed my daughter's life," Davis said. "My daughter won't let anyone else do her hair."
Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Angela Williams is available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday.
