Q-FACTOR

Five questions with LSU sophomore point guard Anthony Hickey

Being a former Mr. Basketball from Kentucky (Hopkinsville), did you grow up a Wildcat fan?

Yeah, I grew up a Kentucky fan. They were my dream school, and I always thought I was going to go to UK, but I'm against them right now.

What did you learn most from starting your freshman season?

Just being confident. There were times I needed to adjust to how the game was played. Just having the mindset of trying to control the game, control the tempo of how the game is going to be played.

Obviously, you went through a coaching change from your freshman to sophomore year. Biggest difference between Johnny Jones and Trent Johnson?

The offense. Coach Jones lets me play. Coach Johnson let me play, but Coach Jones gives me the keys to every play to play my game. The offense is set up to push the ball, run and gun, and that's something I did in high school. So, I'm used to it.

You lead the SEC in steals. How much pride do you take in your defense?

I love it. Being on the defensive end, that's the main part of basketball. Defense wins championships. I'm glad I'm leading the league in steals, but I'd rather have a championship than just individual awards.

I read that you're a big Derrick Rose fan. How much are you pulling for him to come back in the NBA playoffs?

Oh yeah, I'm ready to see Derrick Rose, ready to see how he's going to respond to his injury. He's a humble man, and I just want him to explode in the NBA like he had already been doing. But I think he's going to come back even better than he was at first.
