Armed robber holds up Lil’ Champ store

A northwest Gainesville convenience store was robbed of cash and cigarettes Thursday night, Gainesville police Officer Ben Tobias reported.

The robbery occurred about 8:23 p.m. at the Lil’ Champ at 2152 NW 39th Ave. The culprit had a black handgun. He entered the store from the east and left walking to the east.

A police dog later tracked him heading north.

The robber was described as a 6-foot-4, 210-pound white male. He wore a gray long-sleeved shirt, a black ski mask and a camo hat.
