Black history

Bartley Temple United Methodist Church will host its annual Black History Month program.

It will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church at 1936 NE 8th Ave. The theme will be "Loving the Dream: The Next Step."

The speaker will be Bishop Thomas D.A. Blue III, pastor of New Bibleway Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Church read-in

Open Door Ministries will host an African-American History Month Read-In. It will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 at the church at 601 NE 19th St.

The program will be held in conjunction with the 24th annual National African American Read-In, which is this month, and will include poems, songs and "Who Am I" presentations by adults and children.

First Missionary

First Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate Black History Month and its 50th church anniversary.

On Sunday at 11 a.m., the Black History Month program will be held and will feature dance, drama, solos and the spoken word of God at the church at 1515 SE 15th St.

On Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 24 at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., the church will observe its church anniversary, also at the church. Lunch will be served following the morning service.

The speakers will be: Feb. 20, the Rev. Terry Dorsey of Mount Hermon Baptist Church in Gainesville; Feb. 24, morning, the Rev. Robert Herring, pastor/teacher of Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville; Feb. 24, afternoon, the Rev. Adrian Taylor, pastor of Springhill Baptist Church in Gainesville.

For the church anniversary, there also will be performances by the church's mass choir, praise dancers and soloists.

Choir celebration

Compassionate Outreach Ministries will host its annual Children's Choir Celebration.

Black history

Emanuel Baptist Church will host a Black History Month program.

It will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at the church at 1203 NE 8th Ave. Old-fashioned food and desserts will be served after the service.

Also billed as "Old Fashion Day," the program will feature a skit titled "Slavery in America;" monologues by Bryanna Bowles of Lake City and Henrietta Turner of McIntosh and the "I Have A Dream" speech by John Alexander, executive director of the Reichert House.

Revival

TDC Ministries International will host the 2013 Fresh Fire Revival.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Antioch United Holiness Church at 2516 NE 8th Ave. The guest speaker will be Prophetess Natasha Williams.

Dinner, social

The United Methodist Men of Bartley Temple United Methodist Church will host a Sweetheart Dinner and Social.

It will be held from 6:30-10 p.m. Friday at the Paramount Plaza Hotel at 2900 SW 13th St. Tickets are $30 per person and the menu will include char-broiled chicken, rice pilaf, roasted potatoes, vegetable medley, bread and dessert. Music will be provided by DJ Juan Martin.

New Horizon Outreach Ministries and In the Valley Women's Ministries will host its annual love gathering and dinner billed as "The Five Love Language."

Breakfast seminar

Spirit of Faith Christian Center will host the Abundant Life Breakfast Part 2.

It will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the church at 1414 NE 23rd Ave. Tickets are $50 for individuals and $75 for couples. The deadline to register is Friday.

The breakfast is designed for those who want to increase their wealth and personal happiness. The guest speaker will be Bob Harrison, a renowned author and speaker.

Youth conference

Crown of Life Ministries will host its Youth Conference 2013.

It will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 20-23 and 11 a.m. Feb. 24 at the church at 302 SW 8th Ave.

Love dinner

TOPROC Assembly of Praise will host its Love Fellowship Dinner.

It will be held from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the church at 800 NW 40th Ave. The cost is $10 each and $25 for couples.

Dinner will be served and free 4x6 photos will be given away.

Ministry cookout

Love of God Outreach Ministries and other ministries and believers will host a cookout for the residents of Phoenix Apartments.

It will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the apartment complex at 2500 SW 31st Place in Gainesville.

Camp Meeting

Victory & Deliverance Life Changing Ministries will host its Camp Meeting 2013.

It will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19-22 and Feb. 26-March 2 at the church at 238 SW 3rd Ave. The theme will be "The Place of the Unconquered."

Red program

New Bibleway Baptist Church will host its Women and Men in Red program.

It will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2611 NW 68th Ave. The program will honor cancer survivors.

Mount Zion

Mount Zion AME Church will host several upcoming services.

On Saturday at 6 p.m., there will be the Post Men's Day Celebration at the church at 7220 SE 225th Terrace in Hawthorne. The speaker will be Elder Alfred Camps of Mighty Wings of Glory Camp Ministries in Gainesville.

The Hawthorne Community Male Chorus will celebrate its 36th anniversary.
