A Gainesville woman assaulted her husband after she saw conversations she disliked in his Facebook messages, deputies said.

Nancy Cruz, 38, of Southwest Archer Road, was arrested on a charge of battery just after midnight on Monday. According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the couple are separated and live in different locations, and have three children together.

On Monday night, the report said, Cruz was going through her husband’s Facebook messages and found a conversation between her husband and another female. The report said she started yelling at her husband while trying to punch him in the face. He blocked most of the strikes, police said.

Next, she threw various objects at him, including perfume bottles, car keys and a bag of chips. The husband called deputies, and Cruz left. They later found Cruz in her vehicle and arrested her. She was in the Alachua County jail on Monday morning.
