Police arrested a Gainesville man after they said that he threatened a police officer with a wooden board.

According to a Gainesville Police Department report, Dennis Robert Rogers, 48, of 4023 NW 34th Drive, was arrested on a charge of felony aggravated assault around 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

The report said Officer Michael Maresca was at 1300 S. Main St. investigating a disturbance when Rogers approached him. Rogers had a 4-foot section of board raised, the report said.

Rogers yelled and threatened to hit Maresca, the report said, and kept approaching until he realized the officer had drawn his weapon, at which point he dropped the board.

Rogers was in the Alachua County jail with a $15,000 bond on Monday.
