Drivers using U.S. 301 in the area of Citra near the Alachua-Marion County line should be alert for smoky conditions, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The FHP is monitoring conditions after a prescribed burn on private property earlier Sunday. The fire is out, but there may be residual smoke in the area.

Visibility may deteriorate quickly due to smoke/fog type conditions especially during the night and early morning hours, the FHP reports.

Motorists should reduce their speed and use low-beam headlights if they encounter these conditions.
