Old Town driver hits tree, is seriously hurt

An Old Town woman was seriously injured Friday night when she ran off the road and hit a tree, reported the Florida Highway Patrol.
Deborah Turner, 61, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida by helicopter following the accident, which was reported at 8:30 p.m. on Northeast 209th Avenue in Dixie County, FHP reported in a media release.
Turner was driving a 1999 Mercury van north on 209th Avenue when she failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the road, hitting a tree, FHP reported. She was treated at the scene by Dixie County Fire Rescue before she was taken to Shands.
