A woman was seriously injured Tuesday night when her scooter was hit by a car on North Main Street.
Patti Richardson, 51, was taken to Shands at the University of Florida under a trauma alert after she was thrown from the scooter, the Gainesville Police Department reported.
The incident occurred just north of Eighth Avenue when a southbound motorist was attempting to make a left turn into a gas station and collided with Richardson, who was northbound, Campos said.
Richardson suffered a head injury, compound fracture on her lower right leg and a right hip injury. She was in the intensive care unit Wednesday morning and has a good chance of surviving, Officer Ben Tobias said.
