Gainesville’s Regional Transit System will open its first official Park-n-Ride facility on Monday at the new Walmart Supercenter off Northwest 34th Street, just south of U.S. 441.
Starting Monday, commuters may park their vehicles in the designated park-n-ride area within the Walmart parking lot and ride RTS Route 8 to the University of Florida and Shands at UF. There are 43 parking spaces available, and there is no charge for using the spaces.
“RTS receives a number of calls requesting Park-n-Ride facilities each year,” said Chip Skinner, RTS spokesperson. “We are excited to offer this service to those commuting into Gainesville for work and recreation.”
Visit the RTS website www.go-rts.com or call 334-2600 for Route 8 schedule information.
