A Williston man has died following a crash in which his car rear-ended another vehicle on State Road 121 in Williston.

Police learned Sunday that Tyars Kimula Griffin, 32, had died at Shands at the University of Florida, according to a news release from the Williston Police Department.

On Tuesday, the other vehicle had slowed down to make a left turn. Griffin rear-ended the vehicle, and later told a police officer he didn't see it until it was too late.

"The driver was responsive and alert when he left the accident scene by ambulance and was transported to Shands Hospital for treatment of his injuries," the news release states.

The cause of death was not immediately known, and an autopsy was planned to determine if Griffin's death was a result of the accident.
