The third-ranked Florida women’s golf team earned its third team title of the 2012-13 season at the Florida Challenge in Lecanto.
The tournament was scheduled for only 36 holes, but the Gators made the most out of their outing by taking a three-shot lead after round one (292) and then built that lead even bigger in the second round to win by nine strokes (586) over second-place finisher, Florida State (595).
UF is continuing to have its best year since winning the SEC title in 2008 season with its third win in five outings as a team.
The honors didn’t end with the team title as sophomore Camilla Hedberg was named the co-winner of the tournament along with UCF’s Monifa Sealy.
Hedberg and Sealy both shot identical rounds of 72-71 to finish at 143 (1-under) for the day.
