APOLLO BEACH — Florida wildlife officials have rescued two canoeists who were stranded in southwest Florida.

Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioners said they rescued the two canoeists off the coast of Apollo Beach on Friday night.

The two men rented a canoe at MacDill Air Force Base earlier Friday, but got lost in the high winds and chilly temperatures.

It was unclear how long they had been lost.

The Tampa Bay Times (http://tinyurl.com/b59red4 ) reports the two men were released with no injuries.
