Florida offensive lineman Jessamen Dunker was released on his own recognizance Thursday morning, a day after his arrest for grand theft of a motor vehicle on the UF campus.
Dunker, a redshirt freshman from Boynton Beach, was arrested for driving a scooter that had been reported stolen. Along with the third-degree felony charge for grand theft of a vehicle, Dunker was charged with driving with a suspended license, a misdemeanor.
UF coach Will Muschamp is aware of the incident and likely will address Dunker’s standing with the team Friday when he meets with the media.
Huntley Johnson, Dunker’s attorney, said Dunker purchased the scooter for $600.
“His position is he paid $600 for the scooter and I’m prepared to represent him on that basis,” Johnson said.
The State Attorney’s Office will investigate the incident and then decide whether or not to bring formal charges against Dunker.
