Former Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency Director Anthony Lyons will return in February, the city announced Thursday.
Lyons served as CRA director from 2006 to December 2011, when he left to become the executive director at Capital City Development Corp. in Idaho.
The Gainesville CRA post became vacant in early January when Kelly Huard Fisher, who had served as interim director since Lyons left, moved to Ohio.
City Manager Russ Blackburn then moved quickly to bring back Lyons.
“We have selected the most qualified candidate from a national pool of exceptional applicants. In Anthony, the CRA will have a proven leader who knows Gainesville and can hit the ground running without missing a beat,” Blackburn said in a city press release.
Lyons is expected to return to the Gainesville CRA on or around Feb. 18. He could not be reached for comment Thursday morning.
He cited family considerations in his resignation letter to the Capital City Development Corp, according to a Jan. 16 article in the Idaho Business Review.
