A Lake City man was sitting in a car Wednesday morning when another man walked up, opened the door and shot him in the face with a flare gun, according to a report.
The interior of the car caught fire and the man was treated at a hospital for his injuries, the Lake City Police Department reported.
Enrique R. Cutts, 27, told police he was in the front seat of his mother's car parked at 361 NE Martin Luther King Street around 5:30 a.m. when Cory M. Douglas, 28, shot him, police said. The car caught fire, but was quickly extinguished.
When police arrived, Cutts was standing outside the car bleeding. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Investigator Tammy Cox found Douglas at his Lake City home, where he was arrested on charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief and booked into the Columbia County Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
