A man was robbed Tuesday night of $50 in southwest Gainesville after he was threatened with a stick and a gun.

The incident was reported about 8:09 p.m. at the Arbor Park apartments at 309 SW 16th Ave., the Gainesville Police Department reported.

A witness called police to report seeing a man being robbed by another man with a stick. Police later found the victim, who told them he was followed home from 13th Street.

The victim told police the culprit, who was not found, threatened him with the stick and threatened to shoot him if he didn’t comply.

The culprit was described as black, in his 20s and 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He wore black or dark blue shorts and a gray T-shirt with writing on the front.

Last week, a purse snatching was reported in the same area, and GPD said it is increasing patrols in the area.

Anyone with information may call detectives at 393-7670 or text “GPDFL” plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES).
