The Rotary Club of Gainesville is taking nominations for its third annual Ethics in Business Awards program.

The awards are presented to one individual and one business or nonprofit organization.

Last year Jon Thomas of Forest Meadows Funeral Home and Cemeteries won the individual award and Crime Prevention Security Systems won the business award.

Submissions should be one-page summaries describing nominees' adherence to high ethical standards in dealing with people, activities beneficial to the community in addition to providing economic benefits as an ongoing enterprise, service as a leader or innovator in their field, and fair and truthful business practices. Winners will be recognized at a ceremony in March.

Nominations are due Jan. 31 and can be emailed to or mailed to Rotary Club Ethics in Business Award Committee, P.O. Box 357755, Gainesville, FL 32635-7755.

For details, call committee chairman Chris Conner at 225-3132.
