After a week of practices, it's time for the big stage.
The Under Armour All-America Game kicks off today at 5 p.m. on ESPN at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl takes place Saturday at 1 p.m. on NBC at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
There are seven future Gators on the Under Armour rosters, five of whom are on the same team.
The Black team (Highlight) has running back Kelvin Taylor, receiver Alvin Bailey, cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III and safeties Marcell Harris and Keanu Neal. The White team (Nitro) includes offensive lineman Roderick Johnson and linebacker Matt Rolin. Harris and Rolin are out with knee injuries.
Six UF commits were on the winning team in last year's game, which was a 49-16 blowout. Neal hopes Highlight can have similar success.
“We have five commits on my team, so it's pretty much the same as last year and hopefully we have the same outcome,” Neal said.
“Maybe we can get Matt and Rod to switch jerseys before the game.”
Former UF defensive tackle commit Caleb Brantley and defensive ends Elijah Daniel and DeMarcus Walker (Alabama commit) are the targets to watch on Highlight.
Five-star defensive tackle Montravius Adams, who won't suit up for Nitro with an ankle injury, visits UF this weekend along with Walker.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl will feature four members of Florida's 2013 class on the East team — receiver Ahmad Fulwood, linebacker Daniel McMillian, defensive end Jordan Sherit and safety Nick Washington. Fulwood (shoulder) and Sherit (knee) will not play.
Former Gator receiver commit Demarcus Robinson will choose between Florida and Clemson during the game and enroll early next week.
Some other targets to look out for are cornerback Mackensie Alexander and Southern Cal commits Jason Hatcher and Jalen Ramsey. All four are on the East team as well.
