A 21-year-old motorcyclist from St. Johns County was seriously injured Friday afternoon in Bradford County when a pickup truck turned into his path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that Joseph Michael Carter of Elkton was driving a 2001 Honda motorcycle westbound on Bradford County Road 230 when an eastbound 2001 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Isaac William Smith, 17, of Lawtey made a left turn across the westbound lane and directly into the path of Carter's motorcycle.
Carter was taken to Shands at the University of Florida in serious condition, FHP said, adding that Smith was charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
