Hello and Happy New Year!

I hope 2013 is off to a great start for you and your family! On New Year’s Eve, my girls, husband and I chatted about our favorite parts of 2012 and our goals for 2013. It was so sweet to hear my girls talk about their favorite memories and goals. Did you make any resolutions for the new year?

Parenting.com put out an interesting and shocking article about the best and worst parents of 2012. You won’t believe some of the stories that made the list! I had heard about a few, but others were news to me! Check it out!

Starting today, all elementary schools in the county will have a school resource officer in place as a response to the tragic school shooting in Newtown. But the officers are only temporary because of funding. Come read more about this plan!

Last but not least, I would love some tips from fellow moms! It's been a rough past couple weeks in our house. I had spinal surgery on Dec. 11 and the road to recovery has been tougher than I anticipated. Have you or anyone you know ever had spinal fusion? What was the recovery like? Have you ever had any type of surgery that kept you from being able to do your normal day-to-day for a while? I would love tips on how to explain to my girls, especially my 2-year-old, why I can't get down on the floor to play, pick them up, etc.

Thanks for being a part of the GainesvilleMoms.com community! Talk to you on the forum!
