Pedestrian dies after being struck on U.S. 301, FHP reports

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Saturday evening along U.S. 301 in Starke, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Bernard A. Tavernia, 66, of Morrisonville, N.Y. was crossing the highway around 6 p.m. near Andrews Street when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, the FHP reported.
The 2001 Pontiac was driven by Anthony Woods, 60, of Lake Butler, the report stated.
Tavernia was transported to Shands at the University of Florida where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries received in the crash, the FHP reported.
