The clerk at the Red Roof Inn at 3500 SW 42nd St. was robbed at gunpoint late Tuesday night, reported Gainesville police.

At about 11:30 p.m. a man with a handgun jumped the counter and forced the clerk to get an undetermined amount of money from the cash drawer and the safe, police said.

Police set up a perimeter in the vicinity and called in a police dog for a track, but the culprit was not found.
