A man stole money from a Lake City business in a Christmas Eve burglary that started when the bandit turned off the electricity, authorities said.

Shortly after midnight Monday, someone shut off the power at the Internet Café, 2240 U.S. 90 W, employees told Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies.

When an employee went outside to restore the power at the breaker, a suspect entered the business and broke into the office, according to a report.

A second employee, inside the business, tried to subdue the robber but was unsuccessful. The suspect stole an undetermined amount of money and fled, the report stated.

No weapons were displayed and no injuries were reported. The suspect was last seen leaving the business in a white, regular cab pickup truck.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 758-1095. Citizens may also call Crime Stoppers of Columbia County at 386.754.7099. Callers to Crime Stoppers will always remain anonymous.
