Book signing

Author Terence Pollard will host a book signing event.

It will be held from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at The Book Rack at 4936 NW 39th Ave. in Magnolia Park.

The book, "Have You Been Broken Yet?," is composed of short stories that deal with Pollard's life experiences and is intended to provide encouragement to those who are experiencing challenges in their lives.

Watch Night

Dayspring Baptist Church will share a Watch Night service with TOPROC Assembly of Praise Ministries.

The service will be held at 9:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at TOPROC at 800 NW 40th Ave.

Celebration

Spirit of Faith Christian Center will host its 3rd annual New Year's Eve Celebration.

It will be held at 9 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts at 3201 Hull Road on the University of Florida campus.

The celebration will feature a concert, giveaways and special performances.

Christmas gala

Dayspring Baptist Church will host its annual Christmas Gala.

It will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Senior Recreation Center at 5701 NW 34th St.

Tickets will be $15 for ages 15 and older and $7.50 for ages 6-14. Dress is semi-formal, and guests are encouraged to wear gold, purple and silver. A live band will provide the entertainment.

Conference

The Gainesville District Churches of God in Christ will host its 5th Sunday Union three-day conference.

Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 28-29 at Anderson Memorial Church of God in Christ in High Springs and at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 30 at Williams Temple Church of God in Christ at 628 NW 7th Ave. in Gainesville.

Watch Night

Compassionate Outreach Ministries will host its "Out With the Old — In With the New" Watch Night service.

It will be held at 10 p.m. Dec. 31 at the church at 320 SE 43rd St.

Celebration

Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church will host its Birth of Christ in Scripture and Song and End of Year Communion celebrations.

The celebrations will begin with Sabbath School at noon Saturday at the church at 740 NE 21st St., followed by the Birth of Christ Musical, which will include reading scripture and singing.

There will be performances by the Junior Praise Team; Speaking in Silence, a sign language group, and other local soloists and groups.

Pastor Sherwin R. Callwood of Breath of Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Jacksonville will lead the candlelight communion at sunset.

Ordination

Hagios Ministries Inc., in conjunction with Rohi Ministries, will host an ordination service for Tonya James and Lakisha Witter, who will become evangelists.

Revival

A Crown of Life Ministries will host a revival and Watch Night service.

The revival will be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 29-30 and Watch Night will take place at 10 p.m. Dec. 31, both at the church at 302 SW 8th Ave.

Praise revival

TDC Ministries International Inc. and Antioch United Holiness Church will host the Radical Praise Revival.

It will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Antioch at 2516 NE 8th Ave.

The special guests will be Psalmists Shawndria Dennison and LaTrail Roberson, both of Gainesville, and Prophet Daniel Powell Sr. of Valdosta, Ga.

Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church is in need of gift bags to fill for the needy.

The bags must be dropped off by Thursday at the church at 630 NW 2nd Ave. in the educational building behind the sanctuary.

Bethesda Outreach Ministries will host two Youth for Christ services.
