Prayer is key in Conn. tragedy

As a parent, grandparent, community leader and pastor, I, just like the rest of the nation, am very saddened and shocked at the horrible and violent attack on innocent children and the adults whose lives were also taken in Conneticut.

A phrase that I have been hearing often during this tragedy is the word, "unspeakable." This is correct, for what words can you really convey when these types of tragedies take place?

Where words might fail, prayers for strength and courage are always fitting. This is what I will do privately and what I did publicly on Sunday at my church in Jonesville.

I call on all of Alachua County to join me in prayer for the parents of the 20 young lost souls. When words cannot come during this tragic time, prayers will speak loud and strong.

senior pastor,

Pleasant Plain United Methodist Church,
