White Springs man dies in one-car wreck

A White Springs man was killed Tuesday in Columbia County when he lost control of his car and hit a tree, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Dead is Charles Ray Tidwell Jr., 52, FHP reported in a news release.
The accident happened about 12:30 a.m. on Northwest White Springs Avenue just south of Stephen Foster Drive, FHP reported.
Tidwell was driving a 1999 Nissan Sentra northbound on White Springs Avenue when he drove off the road on a curve and hit a tree. Tidwell died at the scene and was not wearing a seat belt, according to FHP’s report.
