Gallery Magazine announced the launch of is Gallery Magazine App, which is dedicated to the fine art, food and culture of North Central Florida as represented by local experts. The app also contains a comprehensive arts events calendar and can be found at www.app.gallery-mag.com and is available on the iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphone and tablet devices.
Margarita V. Purvis was recently named vice president of sales for Area Communications Company. Purvis, who holds a bachelor of science degree in advertising with a minor in marketing from the University of Florida and an associate of arts degree in business administration from Palm Beach College, brings more than 20 years of experience in telecommunication products and services in North Central Florida.
Linda Webb recently joined First American Title Insurance as the company's marketing and sales representatives for Alachua and Marion counties. Prior to joining First American Title, Webb, who holds a bachelor of science in business, worked for the Darr-Schackow Insurance Agency and served as vice president of associate services with Coldwell Banker M.M. Parrish Realtors.
Jane Muir, of the Uniiversity of Florida, gave a presentation titled "eWITS: Empowering Women in Technology Startups" during the Association of University Technology Managers Leadership Forum, which was selected as the winning presentation for the forum's "A Novel Initiatives Competition." The pilot program, eWiTS, will be launched at UF by the Office of Technology Licensing, UF Tech Connect and the Florida Innovation Hub and seeks to increase the number of women in leadership roles in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics industries.
The Management of SunState Federal Credit Union recently announced the promotion of Suzanne Friis to senior vice president of operations. Friis, a Gainesville native, has 23 years of credit union and banking experience and has been a member of the SunState team for nine years.
352 Media Group, a local web development and digital marketing company, and Exactech, a local manufacturer for bone restoration products, recently announced that together the two companies raised $24,005 for Movember — a global fundraiser where men grow mustaches to raise money and awareness for men's health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.
