I recently had the pleasure of witnessing an incredible rock show. Jaded as I am to the musings of most local musicians, Chris Wollard & The Ship Thieves have a little something extra that most regional musical endeavors lack. They’re tight, loud and have great songs. It also helps that Wollard was co-songwriter and co-lead singer in the critically praised Hot Water Music. But his former collaborations have nothing to do with the integrity of this band.

With a band that includes guitarist Addison Burns, bassist Chad Darby and drummer Robert Brown, he’s backed up by some of the finest musicians in town, if not the state. The best part about seeing The Ship Thieves is enjoying the fun that each member has onstage. It’s always nice to see four dudes having the time of their lives on a simple stage in front of normal folk.

You can catch this experience Sunday with special guests, Grabass Charlestons, at Loosey’s Pub, starting at 9 p.m.
