Roundup: Dashiell on U.S. lacrosse training roster

Florida midfielder Brittany Dashiell was named to the 25-player U.S. Women’s National Training Team roster, announced by the U.S. Lacrosse organization.
The team was selected from the standing 38-player roster comprising the 2012-14 U.S. Women’s National Team, and these 25 players will train with Team USA in preparation for the July 2013 Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
Dashiell, a Tewaaraton Award and Honda Sports Award finalist in 2012, is preparing for her senior season with the Gators. Last season, she was a consensus First-Team All-American and a First-Team IWLCA All-South Region selection and finished in the top four in every statistical category. She led the Gators with 69 points and 25 assists.
VOLLEYBALL: Florida freshman Ziva Recek was named the AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year as four Gators received All-South Region honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
Recek was joined on the AVCA All-South Region Team by junior setter Taylor Brauneis, junior middle blocker Chloe Mann and senior right-side hitter Tangerine Wiggs.
SWIMMING: Florida juniors Elizabeth Beisel and Sebastien Rousseau were each named the Southeastern Conference Swimmer of the Week.
Beisel was Co-SEC Female Swimmer of the Week, along with Georgia’s Melanie Margalis and Rousseau was Co-SEC Male Swimmer of the Week with Marcelo Chierighini of Auburn.
GYMNASTICS: Florida is No. 3 in the 2013 preseason poll released by GymInfo. This is the seventh straight year Florida appears among the preseason top four teams. Florida has ranked among the preseason top 10 each year since the poll’s inception in 1992.
