A Gainesville woman was charged Monday with battery on her elderly father after she demanded money from him and he refused to give it to her, according to an arrest report.

Arrested was Lynn Diane Hinely, 48, of 4056 NW 23rd Circle. She was charged with battery on a person 65 years or older in connection with Sunday’s incident.

Police allege Hinely demanded money from her 79-year-old father. He went into his bedroom and locked the door, according to the arrest report.

Hinely banged on the door, demanding her father come out. When he opened the door, she shoved him several times.

Hinely’s father told police he has memory problems and did not remember if Hinely shoved him but added that she probably did.

Two witnesses, Hinely’s brother and her son, saw the incident, the report states.
