You know it’s coming. It happens every year around this time.

Just bear with it.

“It’s the most wonderful time

of the year

With pink slips a’flying

And coaches a’lying

and postseason near

It’s the most wonderful time

of the year

The conferences shifting

Commissioners grifting

But don’t shed a tear

It’s the most wonderful time

of … the year.”

It’s crazy right now with speculation about coaches moving and teams moving and Heisman voting and extensions and raises and assistants having to explain to their kids how they have to move because their boss blew it. We may spend a little time watching the product on the field.

This just in: Notre Dame has announced it is moving to the NFC East.

Bulletin: Jon Gruden turns down a job that was never offered to him.

News flash: Nick Saban stumps for SEC Championship Game loser to be invited to play in Super Bowl.

This is the biggest week for The Picks because anything short of 100 wins is unacceptable for Dr. Football and we’re at 93-67 after a 7-3 week. As many of you have informed me, I picked Florida State last week. I’m blaming short-term memory loss. I forgot the Seminoles were in the ACC.

ALABAMA-GEORGIA: A lot of people are going to look at the way Georgia has been playing in November and pick the Bulldogs. You have to look at who they played, not how they played. Georgia could easily win this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bulldogs pulled it off. But I am not picking against Saban in a big game. Or in a grouch-off. Alabama, 27-24.

FLORIDA STATE-GEORGIA TECH: I’m sure that the toughest thing Jimbo Fisher has to do this week is not solve the Tech triple option but get his team out of the jar after that loss to Florida. The good news for FSU — Tech isn’t very good. FSU, 34-21.

NEBRASKA-WISCONSIN: I so want to see a five-loss Big Ten-ish team in the Rose Bowl. I can’t explain why, I just do. Nebraska, 23-21.

TEXAS AT KANSAS STATE: Oh, Wildcats. I don’t know how it was in 2003 when you were at the Fiesta Bowl, but I was there six years ago, and if the way you are treated doesn’t make you want to play your tails off, I don’t know what will. Kansas State, 35-23.

OKLAHOMA AT TCU: Time for the Sooners to man up if they want a BCS bowl. Oklahoma, 38-13.

KENT STATE-NORTHERN ILLINOIS: If Kent State wins, it has a shot at the Orange Bowl in Miami. If it does not, it’s likely the GoDaddy.com Bowl in Mobile. Think it’s a big game? Northern Illinois, 27-21.

UCLA AT STANFORD: Forget the game, I want to be at Jim Mora’s postgame presser. Stanford, 24-16.

OKLAHOMA STATE AT BAYLOR: Should be fun to watch. Okie State, 64-62.

UCF AT TULSA: Quietly, a nice season for the Knights. Tulsa, 45-34.

PITTSBURGH AT SOUTH FLORIDA: Had to fill out 10 picks. Pittsburgh, 29-17.
