Gainesville police are searching for an armed woman they say robbed a Walmart on Friday afternoon.

The woman walked into the garden center at the store on Waldo Road, pointed the gun at the cashier and demanded large bills, said Gainesville Police spokesman Ben Tobias.

She fled with about $700 in cash and ran across Waldo Road heading west, Tobias said. Police set up a perimeter and began searching with K-9 units, but were unable to locate her.

After fleeing the store, the woman removed all of her outer clothing. “Best guess is that she had another outfit on under the one that was discarded,” Tobias said.
