Florida reaped one of the rewards Monday for winning the SEC volleyball championship.
Junior middle blocker Chloe Mann was named the SEC Player of the Year, Ziva Recek earned Freshman of the Year honors and Mary Wise received her 13th Coach of the Year nod.
It’s the first time since 2000 and second time in program history for Florida to receive SEC Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year. In all, five Gator athletes were honored on the All-SEC teams with four players earning first-team mention, the most in the league.
Mann, Recek, Taylor Brauneis and Tangerine Wiggs were named first-team All-SEC, while Betsy Smith was named to the second team. Recek made the all-freshmen team.
Mann leads the Gators with a .437 hitting percentage, good for fifth in the NCAA. Mann leads Florida with 1.13 blocks/set, good for third in the SEC.
Recek leads Florida in kills with 409 (4.05/set) and ranks top five in the SEC in kills and points per set (4.50).
Wise has led the Gators to a 19-1 conference record and a 25-4 mark overall.
The Gators host Tulsa, College of Charleston and Miami in the NCAA Gainesville Sub-Regional Friday-Saturday.
