1 hurt in collision between car, police cruiser

A collision between a police car and another vehicle sent at least one woman to the hospital Sunday afternoon, officials said.

A Gainesville police vehicle collided with a Toyota Yaris, driven by 62-year-old Eula Daniels, around 1 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of SE Third Street and Fourth Avenue.

Daniels was taken to Shands at the University of Florida for injuries, according to her daughter, who did not wish to be identified. Daniels had one passenger in her vehicle, but it is unknown what condition that person was in after the crash. No other details about the people in the Yaris were available

GPD Corp. James Powell said no one was seriously injured during the collision, adding he was unsure how the crash occurred. The officer involved in the incident was not identified.
