A Starke man was arrested early Friday morning on allegations of molesting a teenager at The Oaks Mall as they were waiting to get in a store when it opened at midnight Thursday.
John Wesley Mosely, 19, of 17690 NW 59th Loop, was charged by the Alachua County Sheriff's Office with one count of child cruelty without great harm.
Mosely was standing behind the 14-year-old girl in a line at the Hollister when he grabbed her between her legs, the report states. The girl told deputies she initially thought it was accidental and tried to move forward.
However, Mosely continued to grab and fondle her until he fell to the ground when the crowd surged forward as the doors opened, deputies said. The report states Mosely still had his hand between the girl's legs as he sat on the ground.
Two officers who were working in plain clothes in the mall were given information on the incident, including a description. They quickly identified Mosely as the suspect as he was walking to the food court.
Mosely denied touching the girl.
