A Gainesville woman who punched and kicked her pregnant daughter was arrested Thursday on multiple charges, according to a police report.

Celeste Yvonne Whitfield, 45, of 3208 SW 26th Terrace, was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, the Gainesville Police Department reported.

The two got into an argument early Thursday morning when Whitfield is accused of choking her daughter, who is four months’ pregnant, until she had difficulty breathing and fell onto a bed, the report states.

Whitfield climbed on top of her daughter and hit her in the head several times. Whitfield denied battering her daughter but admitting arguing with her and hitting her to defend herself, the report states.
