President Obama has an opportunity now to make lasting positive changes in our country. Here's my wish list:

1. End Poverty. Raise minimum wage to $10/hr; jail Wall Street crooks; tax church property; fully fund public education and defund the military; fund proven pathways to home ownership; exchange college loan debt for work in poor communities. Hold fast to the notion that the uber rich should pay their fair share of taxes.

2. Address Climate Change. Fully fund the EPA and end tax breaks to oil and other industry polluters; remediate degraded ecosystems; stop building in flood zones; fund organic farmers while defunding big agro-chemical farmers; stop dumping toxic pollutants in poor communities.

3. Ground Drones. End military bullying. Bring our troops home now and fund wounded veterans. Close 900 militarty bases around the world; hold war criminals (Cheney, et el) accountable.

4. End prison sentences for drug crimes as it clogs our courts, prison, parole and probation systems; 800,000 were arrested for pot last year. Legalize cannabis

.

5. Improve the voting process.

That's my short list!

Jacqueline Betz,

Gainesville
