The SEC games worth keeping an eye on this week
Derek Dooley’s derisive comments after Tennessee’s win over Vanderbilt last season didn’t sit well with the Commodores. Now, Vanderbilt can get revenge by denying its in-state rivals any hope of playing in a bowl game. Vandy comes into this game riding a four-game winning streak. Meanwhile, Tennessee has given up an average of 45.5 points while going 1-5 in its last six contests.
Set for Brissett
With Florida QB Jeff Driskel doubtful for Jacksonville St. with a sprained ankle, Jacoby Brissett will try to build off his solid late-game efforts against Louisiana-Lafayette. With the trip to Tallahassee looming, it’ll be interesting to see how the QB situation stands before the 6th-ranked Gators face the Seminoles.
Beating Syracuse is Missouri’s last realistic shot at making a bowl in its first year in the SEC as the trip to College Station will be treacherous. Surprisingly, the Orange manhandled previously unbeaten Louisville 45-26 last week. Meanwhile, Mizzou comes into this game after a big 51-48 comeback win over Tennessee behind the gutsy play of QB James Franklin.
